Established in 1967, the University of Salford is a leading public institution of higher education and research in Salford, Great Manchester, New England. It was originally set up as Royal Technical Institute in 1896, transforming into the College of Advanced Technology in 1956. The institution received the university status under the Royal Charter of 1967.
