Established in 2004, with the coming together of Victoria University of Manchester and University Of Manchester Institute Of Science and Technology (UMIST), the University of Manchester is located on Oxford Road in England. It is a public research red brick university, fashioned after the civic university movement that took place at the end of the 19th century. The university is also a member of the elite Russell Group University.
The university offers courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels along with diplomas and certification programs. As per the academic year 2018-19, the university recorded 40,250 student enrolments and more than 10,400 staff members on its premises.
The University of Manchester is divided into three faculties that are further subdivided into schools teaching various courses. The Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health is divided into the School of Biological Sciences, the School of Medical Sciences, and the School of Health Sciences. The Faculty of Science and Engineering is divided into the School of Engineering and the School of Natural Sciences. The Faculty of Humanities includes the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures, and the Schools of Combined Studies; Education; Environment and Development; Architecture; Law; Social Sciences, and the Manchester Business School.
